ANTHROPOLOGY
Purpose: This course is a survey of the Cultural Anthropology branch of anthropology concerned with the study of human societies and cultures and their development. A specific emphasis will be put on the understanding of the concept of culture as well as the study of human society and its impact on culture. Content will include the study of other cultures, their technologies, gender roles, marriage and kinship, race and ethnicity, sexuality and gender, social control, religious belief and ritual, and how cultures change. Involves readings, videos, assignments and activities, as well as discussion boards.
This course is offered as a one-semester course for 1/2 credit and is required for graduation.
